28 Costumes are: Chris (guitar, vocals), Tony (guitar, vocals),
Ally (drums, percussion) and Geoff (bass)

Liverpool’s indie-pop sensations 28 Costumes are on a roll. A bit of dark-rye, slightly poppy… everything roll. From dodging Jaeger-dousing fans in Germany to rivalling their antics in America, this darkly infectious four-piece from Liverpool are moving fast and cooking with gas.

Often called by peers as the hardest-working band in Britain, 28 Costumes have toured their socks off, garnering a UK and European-wide fan base while sharing the stage with the likes of Bloc Party, Editors, Futureheads, Maximo Park and fellow scouse popsters Hot Club de Paris and The Wombats. They were also headhunted to open for a reunion gig with former members of The Jam.

And how much do the Germans love these guys? For the third year in a row, they’ve been asked to play the mighty Rock am Rong Festival, and for the second time this year, the 28s join #1 German chart-rockers Mia on an extensive 4k-capacity venue tour across her homeland.

The fearsome foursome have also been specially chosen to play Ireland’s Cois Sharraigh Festival on September 8th, gigging alongside music heroes Fun Lovin’ Criminals and The Coral.

“This is such an amazing time for us; we’ve had a great year so far” said 28 Costumes front man Chris McIntosh. “We’re dead excited to be making the best music possible and get as many people to hear it as possible.”

All this action, and 28 Costumes still find time to gig non-stop, record round the clock and make videos for their new album, due out later this year. Fuelled by Chris’ searing honesty, Tony’s sweltering guitar hooks and Ally and Geoff’s contagious rhythms, their gigs and records are joyous celebrations of dour England’s disappointments. 28 Costumes communicate the realities of life and make it fucking good fun.

Review from GIGWISE sept '07

"Follow-up act 28 Costumes have no problem in this respect delivering a set of absolutely fantastic songs that have jaws dropping all over the place. Tracks such as ‘Apologies’ and ‘Electrical Fever’ are true sing-along classics but there is more here then meets the eye. This is a band that is not afraid to mix it up with a set that features the band snoring in unison on the brilliant ‘Don’t Go To Sleep Downstairs’, on stage joking and amusing crowd banter. Despite this, one can’t help feeling disappointed at the rather poor turn-out for a group that are one of best things that this listener has heard in a while.

The night ends somewhat limply with the NERD esque Kojo bringing the spirits down with a competent but fairly middle of the road set that makes you wonder why they were headliners after a group like 28 Costumes. In the end, it’s best not to dwell on this because in the end the Cossies provided enough entertainment to last the night."
